Unemployment in Scotland rises, figures show

Unemployment in Scotland has risen in the last quarter and remains above the the UK-wide rate, according to the latest figures.
Data from the Office for National Statistics shows the unemployment rate for people aged 16 and over was 5.1% between May and July this year.
This was 0.6% up on the previous quarter and above the UK wide rate of 4.9%.
There were 140,000 people aged 16 and over out of work in Scotland in the latest quarter, according to the figures.
The employment rate for people aged 16 to 64 was 73.7% which was 0.4% down on the previous quarter.
The figures show 2.627 million people aged 16 and over were in employment in Scotland in the last quarter.
