Rain warnings have been issued for seven counties, with thunderstorms possible in parts.

It will be a wet start to the weekend for people with Met Éireann warning of potential localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions.

A status yellow warning for rain applies to Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo between 9pm on Friday and 9am on Saturday morning.

That will be immediately followed by a status yellow warning for Cork and Kerry until 9pm on Saturday.

Met Éireann said there will be a spell of persistent rain, turning heavy at times.
