Three arrests made after fatal hit and run near Edinburgh Airport

Three arrests have been made following a fatal hit and run near Edinburgh Airport.
Two women aged 23 and 19 and a 32-year-old man have been arrested in connection with a crash on the A8 Glasgow Road at Newbridge near Edinburgh.
The incident happened around 9.25am on Monday and involved four vehicles.
The driver of one vehicle, a 58-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four others were taken to hospital for treatment and released.
Sergeant Mike Thomson said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of the woman who died.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said three ambulances, two special operations response teams, a paramedic response unit and a critical care paramedic were dispatched to the scene.
The road was closed to allow investigation inquiries to be carried out and the vehicles to be recovered and it was re-opened around 7.05pm on Monday.
Inspector Thomas Mallinson said: “My thoughts are with the family of the person who died at this incredibly difficult time.
“Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash, and it is vital we trace the three people who left the area before police arrived.
“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed it or who has information which could assist our investigation to contact us.
“I would also ask anyone who was in the area and may have dashcam footage to please get in touch if it holds anything which could be relevant.”
