Man arrested following serious assault in Co Laois

A man has been arrested following a serious assault in Co Laois.

Gardaí said a man, aged in his 60s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries following the incident on Main Street in Portarlington at about 1.15am on Sunday.

Another man, aged in his 40s, was arrested by investigating Gardaí.

A Gardaí spokesperson issued an appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information in relation to the incident, or who may have video footage (including dash-cam) who were in the area of Main Street between 12.45am and 1.30am on Sunday June 7.
