A man has died following an assault in Dublin.
The 21-year-old died in hospital following the incident in the city centre in the early hours of Monday.
Gardai said the man was found in a serious condition on Grafton at approximately 3am after officers responded to an incident.
“The male, aged 21 years was removed from the scene to taken to St James’s Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later,” a Garda spokesperson said.
“The State Pathologist has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.
“The scene is currently preserved for technical examination.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
They also made an appeal for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
“Anyone who was in the Grafton Street / Clarendon Street area in the early hours of Monday morning between 2am and 3.30am and who may have camera footage, including CCTV or dashcam, is asked to provide this footage to investigating Gardai,” they said.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Pearse Street Garda Station on 01 666 9000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
